Mr.Katayama has a studio in Yamashina, Kyoto. Mr.Mitsuo Kano's pottery art made a great impression on him, therefore he decided to become a potter.
After his study for 10 years, he had tried many experiments - changed temperature and conditions of firing while using various materials. He wanted to discover a new colour which nobody had ever done.
One day, he suddenly discovered a soft, bright and breathtaking beautiful red beyond his imagination. Even now, that is the ideal red for him. With the results of many experiments, he can create art works of interesting styles using different colors and materials.
